ABOUT ALYSSA MAREK
Actor/Creator/Mover
Hey there! I am from and currently reside in Houston, Texas. My theatrical experience started off in performance gymnastics with the Show Team of Houston. Under the direction of Jodie Trncak, I studied dance, gymnastics/tumbling, acrobatics, and mini-tramp. This is where I also started my choreography experience. My team and I were given the opportunity to travel not only nationally but internationally as well where we represented the United States in multiple World Gymnaestradas and FIG Galas in Austria, Switzerland, and Finland. The USAG (United States of America Gymnastics) classified our types of gymnastics as Gymnastics For All and Power TeamGym. I was with the Show Team for 10 years and trained in gymnastics for a total of 15 years.

After graduating high school and my time with gymnastics, I was accepted to the University of Houston School of Theatre & Dance's B.F.A. acting program where I trained in classical acting. Throughout my time there, I studied voice and speech, accents and dialects, Shakespeare, the Suzuki Method, stage combat and many other movement-oriented techniques.

I have had the great opportunity to work with a multitude of amazing companies in the Houston area including Main Street Theatre, Landing Theatre, Rec Room, Unity Theatre, a collaboration with Classical Theatre Company, Houston Shakespeare Festival, Luciole International Theatre, and voice acting studio, Sentai Filmworks. I really enjoy developing new works, being able to incorporate my variety of movement training into my projects, and collaborating with other exciting and driven artists.

In 2019, three former classmates and I founded an all-female led media production company called Says Who? Productions dedicated to engaging and uplifting the arts community in Houston, TX. We are building resources and relationships with up and coming professionals in the industry in the hopes that we can bridge the gaps in our community.
